Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood are terrific together as the ultimate deadly duo in Where Eagles Dare - one of the most tense and rousing World War II adventures ever amde. Alistair MacLean surpassed even his own exciting scripts with this magnificently paced suspense tale. The film opens with these two superstars parachuting into the Bavarian Alps behind enemy lines, and from there on the action is non-stop.

The two commandos have been assigned to rescue an American General from the "Eagles Nest" - an impregnable Nazi fortress which can be reached only by cable car. Only three things block their chances of success - getting up, getting down and geeting away. It's a suicide mission, but with a little help from lovely co-adventurers (Mary Ure and Ingrid Pitt), Burton and Eastwood are ready to take on the whole German Army!
