For the first time, a professiolnal broadcast production team has set out to re-create the reality of the Great Western Railway in its heyday, shot on the most modern and sophisticated equipment, and to the highest technical standards. Although all the material is speically recorded today, it still provides a view of railway working as it really was, which is so difficult to see on a visit to even the best of preserved railways. This is no superficial television treatment, as the objective throughtout has been to recapture all the smallest details of the often forgotten aspects of a way of life which has been so recently lost, but which re-awakens so many happy memories: everything from branch-line goods to main-line expresses, from loco-sheds to shunting yards, from signal-boxes to coaling stages, from token-exchanges to turntables...it's all here, so take your seats for an hour of the colours, the sights, and the sounds that go to make up - the Great Western Experience.
